Forgotten Artists: Lovelace Watkins

Lovelace Watkins (1938–1995) was a Las Vegas-based singer who had some degree of success in USA and UK before disappearing into obscurity in the 1970's.
He was so popular in Europe that he was invited to entertain at the Royal Command Performance for the Queen and  The Times called him “the best entertainer on earth".. and he guested on many TV shows for years

Became known as "The New Elvis" and "The Black Elvis" he had this magnificent booming voice and a great surplus of personality..

I think Watkins just went for the Vegas dollar and made a decent living there being a Poor Man's Sammy Davis Jr.
Largely forgotten these days but well worth a listen ......
