Pablo's Last Christmas (2011)
I usually work at Christmas time.
Everyone else is away with family and friends,I am usually at my work.
Current job is as a support worker for Mental Health clients and, having done Nursing prior to this, there is always scope to work over the seasonal period.
Last year I did a 2pm-10pm shift on Christmas Day.We had some community clients come to our 'core' house where there was a Christmas dinner cooked by the staff.
Dawn and myself were on the late shift and were all set to dish up the dinner at 3pm.We were serving about 8 people and we were eating with them too.
Now Shaz on the early shift had got most of cooking ongoing and it was supposed to be the meal would be ready by 3pm.We were using two kitchens with much to-ing and fro-ing and sweat involved.
However, tables were set and meal was on course for the arranged time.
Then we discovered something when we were going to get the drinks ready.
There were no drinks.Nothing.Zero.Nada.
PANIC!
Searched the whole place..Phoned Shaz at home-: "Where are the drinks?" I enquired.
"Oh!" replied Shaz."I thought they were locked away in the office cupboard."
They were not.
Turned-out The purchaser of the meal (who shall be nameless) was so obsessed with meal ingredients the thought of what to have to drink with said meal never arose.
Shops were all closed too.
So Chistmas dinner last year was accompanied by milk and some extremely diluted orange squash that one of our house folk had in his cupboard.
The meal was good, however, and we had a great laugh about it afterwards.
After the tidying-up we just sat on our backsides and did barely a stroke of work ,watching TV.Easy shift overall.
The great thing about it though was that it reminded me that our clients are really more than users of a service. They are almost like family. We have known each other and are involved in many aspects of their lives over the years and I know I would rather spend Christmas with them than some actual members of my own family.
Having said all that I am off at Christmas this year.
Don't know what's happening yet.
Anyway, here's Ce Lo Green's version of Donny Hathaway's THIS CHRISTMAS .......Yo Ho Ho

Ravi Shankar:MindBlowing
Been chilling-out today listening to Ravi Shankar's self-titled album of 1964.
Give your ears a treat..Starts out all ethereal-like and becomes really fast and intense toward the end.
Almost spiritual..May the great man rest in peace.

That and with new found fame on audioboo.fm with my mini-podcasts has encouraged me to revive the blog.
When it was discontinued it seemed much work for nothing.
Now I have nowt better to do with my time..So welcome back and if you have never been here before have a browse.
The daily hits are mostly for my re-telling of outrageous joke told by Marty Funkhouser (Bob Einstein) in Curb Your Enthusiasm
Welcome ......
